"Sailing away from the safe harbor"

# Dec 16, 2015 # Calicut medical college # nostalgic #

After spending 6 calendar years in and around the CMC campus, now its time to bid farewell, thus sailing away from the safest harbor. Another milestone has been set up - we the 53rd batch CMCians were graduated. Though it’s a dream fulfilled, it’s hard to believe that we are leaving, praying for another comeback. CMC is going to be one of the best campuses ever as we all have left our innocence, smiles, prayers, sacrifices here, leaving with some human values. We were taught that doctors are next to God, and the transition from a student to a better personality is indeed a great achievement. Being alumni now, what I need to add up is - Enjoy the CMC from the roots to top, gain knowledge which is important and small fights are inevitable too. Never lose your heart, say no to grudge or ego or whatever. CMC is here to mould you, just let life go as it is..:) Best wishes..

childhood picture

Being in the moment I awaited since I have dreamt about this, I would like to extend my hearty thanks to Him,the Almighty, my beloved parents who supported and encouraged through out, and to my kiddo sisters who cared so much than I did, fiancee who entered some six months back and made those tough internship days adventurous ,all the teachers who taught me from KGs to college, friends & relatives,...Last but not least, thanking all those patients who had more patience and gave us space to learn..and all the faces who played a part in the making of memories.

And now, when I have those beautiful letters (Dr) infront of my name, though its unbelievable right now, yours prayers made it.
Just as this degree is not a termination but a commencement, I promise all my Best I can..
Thanking you all...

the Song of Fall

NaBloPoMo October - 2nd  at blogher
Winter and summer are two seasons that have songs clearly associated with the time period. But are there any songs that remind you of fall?

"Autumn is the hardest season. The leaves are all falling, and they are falling like they are falling in love with the ground"
 -Andrea Gibson

After the long heavy rains, it comes the autumn, swiping off its footprints. All the land and air dried up. It’s heading towards the end of the year or to a cold shivery winter. Above we see dry floating clouds often shedding few drops during nights. Days being hot and dry but nights are chilling. Trees are bare, shedding all the leaves, making a pavement for the new season. It apparently looks like melancholy everywhere, but they know there is a spring in the ebb and flow of life. Though it can’t escape out of this, they make golden savings for a wonderful time ahead.

There are many songs that remind me about a fall, fall in the sense of autumn of our lives. The one that first comes in mind is Coldplay's Paradise because autumn is just like a girl who dreams of spring and always like to fly away. She does not recognize that  it is the heaven on earth, where the land is covered with gold and magenta as if nature has laid a red carpet. So just remove the preoccupations and lets move on...

lucky red seeds

During the recent past, I found that I had lost interest towards watching movies. Don’t know, why such a change!!!I could remember that during childhood days I used to fight for television remote for watching movies and I had watched about 6 films per day. At last all those movie characters appear before me during sleep in the night, making everything confusing and sometimes fearful.lol But now, when it come about discussing a movie, I feel like..ohh.. why all these stupidities.!!!Because of this attitude, there are so many good film left unseen by me and I could not even take part in such kind of discussions happening during friendly talks.
But when the time comes like I have absolutely nothing to do with... and the last resort is a film means, I will try watching it. Such a situation hit me few months back, and I sat down with laptop to watch the movie called “Manjadikkuru”, by Anjali Menon, 2012, which had bagged so many awards of the year.
It’s actually focusing the true village life of good olden times through the eyes of kids. It has all the innocence, cuteness, and goodness of people on one side and ego, envy, loneliness, pain and poverty on the other.
I really had a good time throughout and when it was the end, my mind was full. Such a cute realistic movie it is. Many of the scenes looked like happened for me in my childhood days and therefore I was happy, I got some lively scenes before me. Heart touching indeed :)
Anjali Menon, director of the film has done a very good job and a warm applause to the creative side. Here am sharing the website of “Manjadikkuru, the lucky red seeds”

Yesterday

"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."
--Oprah Winfrey

Some snaps of "yesterday" is uploading...

After a long time, we had the real pleasure of onam, when we plucked them out from the fields....
Got a little bit of childishness in the head.!!!

"Pookkalam"- © sruthi
"Pookkalam" is done, smaller and indeed a good job. This has been made after a group effort of many little hands and were really happy when a special appreciation was received from "Onathappan" .

"Onathappan- © sruthi"

"Onathappan", symbolic of Maveli, appears on the day of uthradom or thiruvonam in Malabar areas to offer blessings. The red attire, bell ,"olakkuda" are his specialities and is the hero of the day.!!!

                                                                                  ***
It's sepia tinted everywhere...going to be dusky. Celebrations and games are all over. Corridor still smells flowers and pookkalam look afresh. But it’s time to depart with the memories of togetherness. Senses were filled with colorful feast; jokes which made us to laugh out loudly, shopping and new dresses, home visits, evening walks together, gossiping before TV, pampers and fights… Everything is going to its end, because they are leaving. House is been calm and silent as before, and the clock ticks are well heard.

Holidays are over, now back to books. Longing for another onam, let it fall soon.

a Chemical bond

Today, got up from bed when my cell cried out, the alarm had almost pierced my drum to awake my consciousness. I couldn’t be lazy today, because we were having ENT university practical exam. After getting ready with my head stuffed up with various topics, I just had a look on my cell, to see for the date and time (I was unaware about the date till then!). It’s September 5th, teacher’s day. Awwww..!!! Sooner some faces appeared in my mind, of the best teachers I had. Among those faces, I was remembering Parasuraman sir. For me he is the best teacher and guide I had ... Some teachers can influence some pupil in a better way right, and the same for me. Remembering him for a while and praying for his blessings, I moved to exam hall...After having done with that, I was going home and all the way I was trying to recollect those chemistry classes we had.

Parasuraman sir is a tall, little over weighed and fair person enjoying his 60s. “Kuri” on the forehead is his hallmark. Some innocent grays can be seen popping out from his nearly bald and so on his ears. He teaches chemistry at Prof PC Thomas Institute, Thrissur, which is a favorite place for left outs to remember and a dreaded one for on goers!!!.When the pupils around were dying hard competing at the best, being selfish from the roots, sir taught about sharing of knowledge, some soft speech and smiles. Chemistry has been the most hated subject till I had his classes, because these molecules and structures were out of my imaginations. He delivered interesting classes and his frequent pokes in the midst of class, all had a grandpa’s touch. For him every atom or molecule he taught have life, and so came those bonds. He used to share some pieces of stories from epics, when the class seems sleepy, thus making us sharp throughout. I am really missing those lively classes. Being a medical aspirant then, I had a lot of queries and confusions about cracking entrance exams and all were cleared by this old teacher. He can only call my name in such a sweeter way with the very warmth like a grandpa. I am really a proud student to have a great teacher like him.
One of the best pearl acquired from his class, is the description of an ideal student. We all have known it; anyways just have an eye on it.

How my blog!!??

Background
(image taken from google images)
I am dreamy girl that I will be too busy to day dream and usually too tired at night to wish on the stars. It was my habit to experiment on newer things and to collect cute lovely stuffs .I had collected so many pieces of memories and thoughts of mine in my memory box that I have created out of my craziness. As it is a mere card board box well covered , where I preserved all my birth day gifts, herbarium, stamp books, autographs ,diaries and some letters from grandfather ,it had almost over flooded and weighs more than me. So I have to find out some other place to keep these stuffs safe because each and everything in it have life ,I believe.

 When Saga??!!

It was a late spring season. May flowers had blossomed everywhere. I was at home, indeed a small period of vacation after some exams. As I can’t sit jobless for a moment I was consistently searching for some idea and it was then I came to know a new word “blog”.

How Saga??!!

Sooner I googled and learned about blogging. Some of my friend’s advices were also worthy and I found it a perfect place to store my memories , thoughts and dreams. An extended electronic version of my life could be a better idea than a cardboard box which can’t hold much of a girl’s life. So, my blog was born, to explore within and to make my every moment evergreen.

Why Saga??!!
File:Ed0007.jpg
(image taken from here)
During the making of a blogger account, I was asked to give a name for it. I started thinking and thinking, searched my memory box for a special name as I don’t want it to be an innominate. I didn’t find a name of my interest and thought process continued. Sooner, due to some unconscious inspiration, a name “ Saga” came to my mind.
To my interest I got to read a Scandinavian myth about Saga also. It was like:
"Saga is the all-knowing goddess, seeing all things that pass and have passed. As such, she is often referred to as the goddess of history, as well as the goddess of poetry. Her name means "omniscience" or "seeress", and this name has come to be applied to those greatest of epic tales. Saga lives at Sinking Beach, in her hall Sokkuabekk, where every day she drinks of golden cups with her father Odin."
This piece of fact seemed very interesting and sounded like the name of my blog because my blog always emphasized on the history of my life or in other words story of a man making. Thus “the Saga…”
was registered.

To sum up,

Thank you for your patient reading.Have a nice time..:)

Stolen shell ;)

Few days back, I got a chance to be in the sand banks. Walking alone through the wet sandy ways, I was refreshing those good old days there with my sissies and all. I could see few kids raising Mahals with sand, some crabs peeping out through the holes, and of course the majestic waves heading to the shore. Air was filled with so many kinds of noises.
I went near the waves and when a frothy one swept my toes and then the feet, felt irritated actually. Strange indeed! Some hectic thoughts might have eaten away the neurons in my head making me getting irritated for silly things, my brilliant assumption.!!!

Roaring out the pride

Then I moved a little back to the rocky place where I seated safe, waiting for a twilight dipping under the horizon. Some little crabs which poked me took my attention for a next while .I felt like they were taking me somewhere to show something .I was eager and stepped few meters away where I could see some pretty pieces of shells left open, letting out all the pearls of good memories in the salty frothy water.!!! Even though they were empty shells, they were looking delighted when some rays fell over them.

Those shells...pretty right?

I was watching here and there when few little kids came running to the scene. They hardly smiled at me and found themselves very busy. Sooner, a boy came near and took away some pretty shells. A girl kid who was cute in her light blue frock was chasing him. They were pulling and pushing among themselves and later they started doing the same with me. Their laughter and screams raised higher making the sea quiet. My slippers were going out feet while resisting to their fights. But, thank God, they didn’t left me in the salty water waves which could have taken me to those old memories set out by those shells.!!!

But,this is the best one..

Then I was trying to make some good shots in camera. Sooner a Beep…Beep…Beep...was heard. My cell phone is vibrating to remind me something. I just checked it. It said ,

"Case presentation tomorrow"
I was like AWWWwww...  tomorrow is again a Monday!!! So I have to return home now.

Waving hands to those pretty kids, I walked away with my slippers in one hand hanging their broken straps and a stolen "memory shell" in the other .… ;)
